Cute Clothes, Awkward Pose 12.5.18
Today I’m bringing you a couple of really easy outfits to wear to work that happen to also be on sale. Win-win!
First up is this Loft Striped Tie Cuff Sweater that is currently on sale for $17.99! I actually bought this sweater last winter and was pumped to see that Loft brought it back again this year. It has a flattering cut and the stripes are the perfect width, which can be hard to find that perfect balance—stripes can sometimes lean a little too far to the McDonald’s Hamburglar side.
I’m wearing it with Express Mid Rise Ankle Columnist Pants which are also great because they are tapered in fit, but not so tight like a legging. They are also on sale for $47.94. If you like a more fitted dress pant, Loft’s Skinny Pants in Julie Fit are another favorite of mine.
And then I think the pop of red in the shoe is so cute. Mine are several years old from Talbot’s, but they have other beautiful red suede flat shoes right now like these and these. I have had a few pairs of Talbot’s shoes over the years, and they have always been excellent quality.
And one more thing…
Look at these cute ties at the wrist!
This next work outfit is a little more sassy. I paired this Loft Leopard Print Blouse with the same red Talbot’s shoes and Express pants as in the outfit before. This ensemble is so full of personality while still being professional and pulled together. I wore it recently on a day when I had an important meeting, and it gave me even more confidence.
If the red shoes are a little too out of your comfort zone, a classic black heel would be beautiful with this outfit, too. If you’re like me and have a job where you are on your feet all day, I highly recommend these Clarks Laina Rae pumps. They are currently on sale for $77, which is really good for Clarks shoes.
If I have learned anything, it is this: Don’t waste your money on cheap shoes. I have bought and donated more pairs of cheap shoes than I can count when I could have just paid a little more up front and saved money in the long run (and blisters—youch!).
I have come to adore tops like these from Loft. The flowy material in the henley style is so flattering and tucks well into pants. I alternate between the front tuck and the full tuck look.
So there you have it, two outfits using the same components and only switching out the top.
I am planning on a “How to Build a Wardrobe” post series soon. Is that something that interests you all? If so, would you want to see how to build a work wardrobe or casual wardrobe first? Let me know in the comments!
I also want to thank you for reading these posts. They are so fun to make, and you taking the time to stop in means more than you know.
